(Yes, I know I’ve posted my blog up here pretty late this week, but sometimes you just have to post late rather than miss posting all together,…)
This last week’s assignment was “subject placement”. Shoot an image where the subject does not appear at the centre of the frame and the subject does not appear at the third. The subject should be placed at the very extreme edge of the frame. This is intended to be an exercise in attempting to change how we frame our images.
Waning winter
I chose to frame my image with winter (the snow shoes) exiting out of the right side of the frame.
A very timely shot, as I spent a good part of the first day of spring, searching out snow in Elk Island Park in order to shoot this scene as a “Thank you card” for the friend who gave me these snow shoes.
I find it’s always great to be shooting, but always greater to be shooting with a purpose in mind… and then to find my snowy backdrop for my shot after such a warmly waning winter, well that was truly fortuitous.
If anyone is interested, this week’s assignment is “Signs of Spring”. Seeing that last Saturday was the first day of spring, I thought it a fitting topic. Although with all of the wintery weather forecasted for the next few days, I might be regretting this topic come Sunday just before midnight.
Cheers,
